A flick of blue light can now trigger cell division

Researchers at IISc Bengaluru developed LISA, a technique that uses blue-light flashes to control human cell division. When a light-sensitive module is attached to the Aurora A enzyme, blue light triggers clustering and activates spindle assembly. This reversible system works like a light switch, dissolving as soon as the light is turned off.
