Access Now shares list of nations with most internet shutdowns in 2024, India ranks 2nd

India recorded 84 internet shutdowns in 2024 and was surpassed only by Myanmar with 85 internet shutdowns, according to a report released by digital rights organisation Access Now. This was also the first time India did not top the list in six years. In 2024, 296 internet shutdowns were reported globally, 28% of which were in India.
