Achal Kumar Jyoti, a former Gujarat Chief Secretary during the tenure of Narendra Modi as the Chief Minister, was on Friday appointed as the Election Commissioner. His appointment filled one of the two vacant posts in the three-member commission. The 62-year-old retired IAS officer will serve as the EC for about three years.
