Professor Mangala Kapoor, who survived a 1965 acid attack and went through 37 surgeries, has been conferred with the Padma Shri Award for her contributions to literature and education. "When I learned that my name was put forward, I couldn't believe it," she said, adding, "I could've never imagined that a woman like me would receive such a huge award."
