Aditya-L1 was planned for 2008 for near-Earth orbit: ISRO Prof

YS Rajan, Honorary Distinguished Professor at ISRO, said ISRO's 1st mission to study the Sun, Aditya-L1, was planned for 2008 for near-Earth orbit. The mission would've been called 'LEO' and would've orbited the Earth from a distance of about 800 km, Rajan said. ISRO has had plans for space exploration for 15 years but prioritised essential satellite launches, he added.
