Afghan diplomat, caught smuggling 25 kg gold at Mumbai airport, resigns

Zakia Wardak, Consul General of Afghanistan for Mumbai, has resigned after reports emerged that she'd been caught trying to allegedly smuggle 25 kg gold at Mumbai airport. Wardak, Afghanistan's only female diplomat in India, stated that she was stepping down due to "personal attacks and defamation". The gold had been concealed in her jacket, leggings, knee caps and waist belt.
