AFSPA extended in 8 Nagaland districts; 3 districts of Arunachal

The Centre has extended Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) in eight districts of Nagaland and three districts of Arunachal Pradesh after reviewing the law-and-order situation in these states. AFSPA gives armed forces sweeping powers to search, arrest and open fire. The Nagaland districts where AFSPA has been reimposed are Dimapur, Niuland, Chumoukedima, Mon, Kiphire, Noklak, Phek and Peren.
