Agricultural loans up to ₹2 lakh to be collateral free: RBI

RBI has increased the limit of collateral-free agricultural loans from ₹1.6 lakh per borrower to ₹2 lakh. Effective January 1, 2025, banks will waive collateral security and margin requirements for agricultural loans, including loans for allied activities, up to ₹2 lakh. RBI said the move takes into account the overall inflation and rise in agricultural input costs over the years.
