Ahead of midterms, Trump to allow more beef imports to cut prices for consumers

As the midterm elections approach, US President Trump said he would allow more foreign beef imports to lower costs for American consumers. “US will allow up to 300,000 metric tonnes of product for ground beef to be imported with no out-of-quota tariff,” he added. US cattle herd has shrunk to its smallest size since the 1950s, pushing beef prices higher.
