AI agents could trigger banking crisis by moving money for better returns: Economist

AI agents like Meta's Muse could soon move household cash from checking accounts earning about 0.1% to accounts offering 3.3% to 5% returns. If millions of people do this, banks could lose the deposits they use to give loans. Apollo economist Torsten Slok called this an "agentic bank run", where AI-driven money moves happen automatically in search of better returns.
