AI maps China's renewable energy infrastructure grid: Study

Researchers in China used AI to map 319,972 solar facilities and 91,609 wind turbines after processing 7.56 terabytes of satellite imagery. The project created China's first high-resolution inventory of renewable-energy infrastructure, helping stabilise the national grid amid rising computing-power demand. They also found solar and wind resources complemented each other across time and geography.
