AI replicas of Mahatma Gandhi, Mandela, Churchill to ‘govern’ Philippine island

An island in the Philippines is planning to have AI replicas of world leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and Winston Churchill govern it. Dan Thomson, owner of the Sensay island, says he envisioned creating a micronation run by council of 17 AI-powered robots modelled on influential leaders. Over 12,000 people have registered to become island residents since 2025.
