AIIMS Bhopal probe finds items bought at 6,500% markup

An internal AIIMS Bhopal committee found over 125 medicines and 200+ surgical items priced 500%–6,500% above expected rates. A tube contracted at ₹14.27 was billed at ₹943.49 by AMRIT pharmacy. AIIMS has now restricted AMRIT purchases to emergencies and is establishing its own rate contracts.
