AIMIM leader Mofakkerul Islam held for leading protests that led to SIR officers being held hostage

The West Bengal Police on Friday arrested AIMIM leader Mofakkerul Islam, who is being described as the mastermind behind incident in West Bengal's Malda in which seven judicial officers were held hostage for nine hours. Mofakkerul is accused of leading protests in Malda a night before the hostage incident. Islam was reportedly arrested from Bagdogra airport in Siliguri.
