The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) opposed the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and said that it was 'unconstitutional and unworkable' in a country like India. AIMPLB Secretary Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani said, "There are more cons than any evident benefit of UCC. It's in contradiction with the Sharia." AIMPLB also urged the Centre to reconsider its stance.
