Air India Express could merge into Air India: Report

Air India CEO-designate Tewolde Gebremariam is considering folding low-cost subsidiary Air India Express into the parent group, Bloomberg reported. The main objective would be to trim costs and improve efficiency, as Air India Express would retain its brand even if the merger happens, according to sources cited. Air India recorded a consolidated net loss of ₹22,238.23 crore for FY26.
