Air pollution can trigger diabetes and dementia: Dr V Mohan

On the podcast, Dr V Mohan, a diabetology expert, said PM2.5 pollution does more than cause cough. Fine particles can enter the bloodstream, damage pancreatic beta cells and contribute to insulin resistance, he said. He linked prolonged exposure to a higher risk of diabetes, heart disease, cancer and dementia, adding that it may contribute to earlier onset of these conditions.
