Air pollution in London surpasses Beijing

Air pollution levels in London hit a peak 197 micrograms per cubic metre on the Air Quality Index on Monday, worse than Beijing's 190 micrograms per cubic metre, according to reports. London Mayor Sadiq Khan on Tuesday said that the city's 'filthy air' is now a 'health crisis'. Reportedly, particulate matter released from wood-burning stoves has aggravated the problem.
