Air pollution linked to higher suicide risk: Study

Exposure to air pollutants, especially fine particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2), may increase the risk of suicide and suicidal thoughts, according to a study. Researchers found that these pollutants have been linked to neurological effects that can impair brain function and influence mood and stress resilience. Globally, over 7,20,000 people die by suicide every year.
