Airfares to Prayagraj rise 5X due to Maha Kumbh, DGCA intervenes

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation held a meeting with airlines and asked them to rationalise fares amid skyrocketing ticket prices for Prayagraj, where Maha Kumbh is underway. The ticket price from Delhi to Prayagraj reportedly rose to ₹25,000 against the usual ₹5,000. DGCA also approved 81 additional flights, effectively increasing the number of flights to Prayagraj to 132.
