Airport, roads flooded as storm dumps 1.5 years’ rain on Dubai

Heavy thunderstorms in Dubai caused flooding at the international airport and major highways, with over 142 mm of rain soaking the city in 24 hours. Dubai International Airport suspended operations, schools were shut, and emergency personnel navigated flooded streets. Neighbouring Oman also experienced heavy rainfall, resulting in 18 deaths.
