Aishwarya was from cosmetics world, rejected her at first: Ghai on 'Taal'

Filmmaker Subhash Ghai revealed that he initially rejected Aishwarya Rai for 'Taal', citing her modelling background. Ghai said, "Saroj Khan recommended her name...She took Aish's name. I was shocked and told her that Aish belongs to the cosmetic world." However, he added, "Mani Ratnam...[convinced] me, and when I saw the Tamil movie 'Iruvar', I knew that she was the girl."
