Alarming levels of lead found in turmeric sold in India
Alarming levels of lead were found in samples of turmeric from India, Pakistan and Nepal, according to a recent study. Turmeric sold in Patna was found to have lead levels exceeding 1,000 micrograms/gram, 200 times more than the limit set by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). Lead in Guwahati's samples was 10 times the permissible limit.
