Aleppo airport shut, all roads leading into the city closed as armed Syrian rebels enter

Syrian authorities closed Aleppo airport as well as all roads leading into the city as armed rebels entered for the first time since 2016. The rebels, led by Islamist militant group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, carried out a surprise attack this week. The offensive is the first major flare-up in years between the Syrian opposition and President Bashar al-Assad's regime.
