Researchers at the Rice University in the US have crafted a titanium-gold alloy which they claim is four times stronger and more wear-resistant than pure titanium, making it a potential replacement for body implants. The alloy was created by mixing three parts titanium with one part gold at high temperatures, allowing it to form an almost purely sturdy crystalline structure.
