Alphabet & SpaceX launch AI chips into orbit today

Alphabet's Project Suncatcher will launch a solar-powered satellite carrying Google's TPU AI chips aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from California on October 1, 2026. The initiative aims to test whether space-based data centers powered by near-constant sunlight can train AI more efficiently than Earth-based facilities. Launch is scheduled for 11:15am PT.
