Alphabet buys Intersect in $4.75 bn deal to boost data centres

Alphabet agreed to acquire Intersect for $4.75 billion plus assumed debt to accelerate data centre and power capacity for its cloud and AI services. Expected to close in early 2026, the deal builds on Alphabet's minority stake and brings multiple gigawatts of energy projects under development to help speed energy infrastructure and expansion efforts.
