Amazon ordered to pay over ₹15,000 for withholding refund

An Andhra Pradesh consumer commission ordered Amazon to refund ₹5,199 to a consumer for defective earbuds and pay an additional ₹10,000 in compensation. Despite receiving the refund amount in December 2025, Amazon allegedly informed the consumer in January 2026 that only ₹4,689.52 had been approved. The commission held that Amazon cannot withhold a refund after receiving it from the manufacturer.
