Amazon said its global data centres used 9.46 billion litres of water in 2025, adding it is equivalent to about 5% of annual water consumption in Seattle, where the company is headquartered. The disclosure comes amid rising scrutiny of environmental impact of AI-driven data centre expansion. Amazon noted the figures show they have greater cooling efficiency than some industry peers.
