Amazon unit suffered 13-hour outage after its own AI tool created bug: Report

Amazon Web Services suffered a 13-hour outage in mid-December 2025 after Amazon's AI coding tool, Kiro, introduced a bug, the Financial Times reported. Engineers had used the tool to fix issues, but it instead "deleted and recreated the environment". The incident was "a user access control issue, not an AI autonomy issue", the company said.
