AMD acquires ‘Godmother of AI’ Li Fei-Fei’s startup for $8.2 billion

AMD will acquire AI research lab World Labs, led by "Godmother of AI" Fei-Fei Li, in an $8.2-billion all-stock deal. The acquisition will give AMD access to research on spatial intelligence, which helps AI understand and simulate 3D environments and physical interactions. Li will join AMD as executive vice president and chief scientist.
