Amritsar's Basarke Gillan, the cradle of a guiding light

Located about 15 km from Amritsar, the historic village of Basarke Gillan holds a special place in Sikh history. The village is best known as the birthplace of Guru Amar Das, the third Sikh Guru. Guru Amar Das was born on May 5, 1509, at the village to Tej Bhan Bhalla and Mata Sulakhni (also known as Lakshmi).
