Anand loses to Carlsen on time at GCL 2026, says 'That was a pity'

Norwegian chess Grandmaster Magnus Carlsen defeated five-time world champion Viswanathan Anand in their Global Chess League 2026 clash. With seconds left on the clock, PBG Alaskan Knights' Anand failed to press his clock in time, allowing Alpine APL Pipers' Carlsen to win by timeout. "That was a pity...but I'm happy the team won," the 56-year-old said after losing the game.
