Anchor investors sell half of IPO holdings within a year: SEBI

Anchor investors in mainboard IPOs sold about half of their aggregate allotment within a year, with FPIs emerging as the biggest sellers, according to a SEBI study covering 242 IPOs listed between April 2022 and October 2025. However, most anchors do not exit aggressively immediately after mandatory lock-ins expire. Issue size was closely linked to anchor exit behaviour, study found.
