BMC Commissioner Ashwini Bhide said on the podcast that the Andheri subway, a symbolic image of Mumbai's floods, is a very narrow passage running through a drain, so water fills it every monsoon. Alternatives exist via a short detour, and it's shut during rain as a safety matter. A bridge over it is being attempted despite structural difficulties.
