Android 16 feature will make stolen phones useless, unsellable

Google has revealed upcoming Android 16 will come with robust security features to prevent thieves from reselling stolen devices. The enhanced Factory Reset Protection (FRP) feature will require second factory reset if any setup wizard bypasses are detected. The user must then enter original owner’s credentials to unlock the phone. Without this, the device will remain locked and become unusable.
