Animated video by NASA shows lava lake on Jupiter's moon Io

An animated video shared by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory shows the lava lake 'Loki Patera' on Jupiter's moon Io. With multiple islands in its interior, the 200-kilometre-long lake is filled with magma and rimmed with molten lava. The video was created using data collected by NASA's Juno spacecraft when it flew past Io in December 2023 and February 2024.
