Anthropic signs deal for 1st Australian data centre worth $31.9 bn

Anthropic has signed a deal for its first Australian data centre in western Queensland, called the Western Downs Digital Park, developed by Singapore-based Zerra DC near Dalby. Worth $31.9 billion, it opens next year. It will use renewable power purchase agreements and a closed-loop air-cooled system, but won't be used for AI model training.
