Anthropic sued over use of Stanford professors’ works to train Claude
Anthropic has been accused of using works by over 10 Stanford University professors to train its Claude AI models without permission. A US judge ruled that legally acquired books could be used for AI training under fair use. Anthropic agreed to a $1.5 billion settlement covering nearly 500,000 works. However, 28 authors, including professor Tobias Wolff, have criticised the settlement.
