Any Indian citizen can now buy land in J&K, Ladakh as Centre notifies land law

The Ministry of Home Affairs has notified new land law for the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, allowing any Indian citizen to purchase non-agricultural land. In a gazette notification, the Centre omitted "permanent resident of the state" phrase from Section 17 of Jammu and Kashmir Development Act. The MHA notification will come into force with immediate effect.
