App-based cab drivers demanding fare hike throw stones at police in Odisha, lathicharged

App-based cab and bike drivers, who have been protesting since August 17 against ride-hailing platforms, allegedly hurled stones at police and vandalised government-run buses. They are demanding a fare hike, reduction in application fees and social security. The police said that the protesters blocked the road and disrupted traffic. The police resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the protesters.
