Apple, Samsung, other phone firms opposed India's proposal to pre-install Aadhaar app: Report
UIDAI had asked IT ministry to engage Apple, Google, Samsung and other leading smartphone companies to consider pre-installing the new version of the Aadhaar app on mobiles, Reuters reported. The firms opposed this over concerns of a rise in production costs and risk of creating functional issues. Only Russia mandates government apps' pre-installation, the firms reportedly said.
