Apple on Friday acquired augmented reality (AR) startup Flyby Media for an undisclosed sum. Founded in 2010, the New York-based startup developed a technology that enables smartphones to scan real life objects. Flyby holds experience in indoor navigation, image recognition and 3D tracking technologies. The acquisition comes after Apple hired Virtual Reality expert Doug Bowman on January 24.
