Apple boosts Ternus' role ahead of possible CEO transition: Report

Apple has expanded the role of its hardware chief John Ternus to include design work, Bloomberg reported. The move underscores his position as a top contender to eventually succeed CEO Tim Cook. Ternus, currently Apple's Senior VP of Hardware Engineering, was quietly appointed "executive sponsor" of the company's design teams last year, the report said.
