Apple completes acquisition of Intel's mobile modem business

Chipmaker Intel has finished the sale of the majority of its smartphone modem business to Apple, in a deal announced in July and valued at $1 billion. While Intel still retains its computer modem business, the deal allowed Apple to acquire Intel's 2,200 employees, patents, equipment and leases. Intel had claimed Qualcomm's anti-competitive practices forced it to sell the business.
