Apple's SHARP turns 2D photos into realistic 3D images in 1 second

Apple unveiled SHARP (Sharp Monocular View Synthesis in Less Than a Second), an open-source AI model that converts a single 2D photo into a photorealistic 3D scene within a second. This is done using 3D Gaussians on a standard GPU. SHARP enables realistic viewpoint shifts with parallax effects without hallucinating unseen details and may enhance AR/VR experiences.
