ARDE developing indigenous railgun for Army's long-range strike
The Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE) has confirmed the development of an indigenous Electromagnetic Railgun for the Indian Army. The system uses electrical energy to fire 50 kg projectiles at Mach 6, striking targets up to 200 km away. Relying on kinetic energy rather than explosives, it ensures safer logistics. Chief Ankathi Raju expects induction within a decade.
