Arlu tree: Himachal's winged seeds link Kinnauri culture, medicine

There are trees that are recognised by their flowers, some by their fruits, and some by the shade they provide. Arlu is remembered for its seeds. Its large, papery, winged seeds mistaken as flowers by ordinary people have travelled far beyond the tree on which they are produced -- into traditional Kinnauri caps, religious objects and the local markets.
