Army deployed to help enforce lockdown in Australia's largest city

Australia has deployed hundreds of soldiers to its largest city Sydney to help enforce an extended lockdown amid rising COVID-19 cases. Sydney on Thursday reported 239 new locally acquired coronavirus cases, its biggest single-day rise since the pandemic began. The city of six million has been under lockdown since late June due to an outbreak of the Delta coronavirus variant.
