Around 500 trees uprooted in Pune in last 3 months claiming lives

Pune witnessed around 500 tree-fall incidents in past three months which led to many deaths and serious injuries, Pune Municipal Corporation's (PMC) environment department said. Unplanned pruning of trees and putting concrete around trunks are key reasons for increase in tree-fall incidents, an official said. While inspecting, the officials found that many old trees don't have strong bases.
